Stanislaw Fijalkowski studied in the years 1946–51 at the PWSSP in Lódz. In the initial period of his work, he referred to the experiences of impressionism, but in the late 1950s he experienced a fascination with informel. He created works that use "subject" suggestions and refer to, for example, Christian iconography, cycles of abstract compositions (e.g. "Ravines", "Variations on the number four", "Talmudic studies") or referring to the author's own experiences ("Autostrady"). Stanislaw Fijalkowski represented Poland at the Sao Paulo Biennale (1969) and the Venice Biennale (1972). In 1977 he was awarded with the Art Critics' Award. Cyprian Kamil Norwid, and in 1990 he was awarded the prestigious Jan Cybis.
