Albert Oehlen Virnich is a German artist who studied at the Berlin University of the Arts and was a master student with Raimund Girke. He is known for his examination of the inherent value of color, particularly its materiality, which he brings to the canvas with different pigments and binding agents, sometimes transparent or opaque, sometimes bush-hammered or flowing. In 1997, he took over a professorship for painting at the Kunsthochschule Mainz.
