At the age of 15 he started drawing book illustrations for the Commercial Press in Shanghai, and taught himself figure and bird-and-flower painting, following the styles of Ren Bonian and Wu Changshuo in the Shanghai School. In the 1930s he moved to the Guangxi Province, close to Vietnam, to be an arts lecturer at Guilin Chinese Painting, College of Fine Arts.... Read full biography
