He graduated from . the William Kellogg School in New York City, then pursued his formal art . training studying drawing and painting at the Art Students League. His . sporting paintings and etchings soon brought him international acclaim and in 1938 he was asked to create the Federal Duck Stamp design. In addition to his legendary artwork, Clark was an accomplished writer. His . first autobiographical collection of sporting articles and short stories was . titled "Stray Shots".
