She was admired for her competence by her early teachers and, in the 1950's by her Denver contemporaries. Nadine was born in Trinidad, Colorado, the daughter of E.B. Kent, owner of a successful candy store. She attended East High School in Denver, and graduated from Colorado College in 1934, where she studied under Boardman Robinson.
