Dutch history painter, Abraham Van Der Pelt traveled to Europe in 1836-39. Thereafter he studied at the Amsterdam academy as well as in the studios of J. W. Pieneman and G. Wappers in Antwerp. From 1856-62 he worked in Brussels and settled in Nijmegen thereafter. In 1852 he became member of the Amsterdam academy.
