Adam Lay was born in Wonosobo in 1949. Lay is known for his paintings of animals, particularly of doves and horses. Typically, his horses seem to run wild in the vast landscape, as if they are free. Adam Lay had a stroke in 2005, and thereafter he said he was no longer willing to paint horses anymore, as he too wanted to be free in painting the subject he wanted to paint.
