Glendening was soon to become one of the most popular and celebrated landscape artists of his day. He painted landscapes throughout the Home Counties, the Lake District, Wales and Scotland. There are also some in Lincolnshire and Yorkshire. He especially enjoyed painting views set along the River Thames, as well as scenes in the Surrey and Sussex countryside.
