Married the artist Mary Newbery Sturrock, daughter of Fra Newbery. Sturrock especially appreciated the landscape of Galloway and of Dorset, where he and his wife lived for a while, and where his painting style reached its maturity. Returned to Edinburgh in 1938 to become treasurer of the RSA. Was elected RSA in 1937. He was briefly RSA secretary in 1953 before his death on holiday at St Abbs.... Read full biography
