Frederick Sandys was a painter, printmaker, and book illustrator who was acquainted with Dante Gabriel Rossetti in the 1860s. He participated in several exhibitions but never received the same attention as the first group of Pre-Raphaelites. He was accused of plagiarism and cut off all relationships with Rossetti.
