Anton Edvard Kieldrup was born in Haderslev in 1826. From 1845-47 Kieldrup was a student at the Royal Academy in Copenhagen. From 1849-69 he regularly participated in exhibitions at Charlottenborg. He financed his own study trips to Munich and Norway (1858-59), which strengthened his love of romantic landscape painting. During his extensive travels he worked tirelessly and made numerous plein-air studies.
