Born in Philadelphia, Arthur Bye became a painter, craftsman, writer, and lecturer. He studied at Princeton University where he earned MA and Ph D degrees, and at the Academie de la Grande Chaumiere in Paris. He also studied with Charles Rosen and John Carlson and exhibited with the Society of Independent Artists.
