The artist Charles (Karel) Boom was born on 3 April in the Belgian city of Hoogstraten in 1858. With a powerful style and harmonious colors, he is known as a painter in oil and watercolor of portraits, child figures, murals, genre scenes and historical compositions in Realist and Romantic styles.
