Born in 1818, Eduard Stiegel was a Hessian landscape painter. He studied landscape painting with Friedrich Wilhelm Müller at the Kassel Academy, where he later taught as a professor. Stiegel preferred to paint Hessian landscapes and vedutas (including Fritzlar, Kassel and Marburg), but also from the Rhine and Thuringia in late romantic style.
