Eduardo Cano de la Peña was a Spanish artist who belonged to the romantic school. He specialized in history themes and was also a portraitist. He was educated in Seville and later became a full member of the Escuela de Bellas Artes de Santa Isabel de Hungría, where he also taught. He continued his studies in Paris and became one of the most famous history painters of his generation.
