Artist Statement-. "Colorful birds, fish, leaves and flowers are among the many carved basswood forms found in my creations. Lyrical armatures of welded steel rods serve throughout as both line drawings and for achieving support and connectedness of all the forms. My earlier training as a painter is combined with later studies in wood art, carving, and metal fabrication. Lyrical armatures of welded steel rods serve throughout as both line drawings and for achieving support and connectedness of all the forms. My earlier training as a painter is combined with later studies in wood art, carving, and metal fabrication. By combining these techniques, I create works that are wall sculptures as well as painted color compositions. My ongoing exploration of methods has evolved to include a laser cutting device which allows for a much higher level of detail on selected components. By combining color, forms and visual movement in each of my sculptures, I strive to present the viewer with a... Read full biography
