His father. mother and sister were engineers, and in an effort to hold his own in such a professional household, he trained for medicine and then switched to law. He was the founder with Sergio Dangelo of the "Nuclear Art Movement" in Milan in 1951 and founder with Asger Jorn of an international movement for an imaginary Bauhaus in Albissola, Italy in 1953.
