After a time in Copenhagen he moved to Paris via England where he became a pupil of André Lhote in 1920. In France, he would spend almost a full decade before returning to his home country. After a time in Copenhagen he moved to Paris via England where he became a pupil of André Lhote in 1920. In France, he would spend almost a full decade before returning to his home country. His fixed point was Paris, but the summers were spent in various locations in the French countryside. Erik Jönsson's painting was characterized during the early twenties by various influences which, with his brush, were combined into a coloristic and compositional finely tuned harmony.
