A native of Bohemia, painter Ernst Nepo settled down in 1918 after his war effort in the Dolomites in Innsbruck. He had studied at the School of Applied Arts in Vienna and began immediately after the war to translate his quaint ideas and with success. A special understanding of color and for the tectonic structure of landscape shows in his early work, in which he processes Expressionism as a symbolist elements of contemporary painting in a very individual ways.
