Santamans began studying art at a young age and worked with famous pastelist Benjamín Suria at the age of fourteen. Santamans began studying art at a young age and worked with famous pastelist Benjamín Suria at the age of fourteen. He continued his formal training at the Barrera Academy in Valencia, the School of Fine Arts, and the Fuster Academy. In 1968, he met painter José Espert, whom he considers his true master. Santamans made his debut in a group exhibition the following year and soon abandoned oil painting to concentrate on pastels. He continued his formal training at the Barrera Academy in Valencia, the School of Fine Arts, and the Fuster Academy. In 1968, he met painter José Espert, whom he considers his true master. He is currently represented in collections in Europe, South America, and the United States.
