He was born in Aalborg, Denmark, in 1934, and immigrated to Canada in 1956. Exhibition venues include Art Gallery of Greater Victoria and the Fran Willis Gallery in Victoria as well as galleries in Vancouver, Edmonton, Toronto, Winnipeg, Ottawa, Montreal, Copenhagen, Switzerland, France and England. Jorgensen is a co-founder of the Metchosin International Summer School of the Arts, where he served as director from 1984-1996.
