Drawing inspiration from Matisse's cut-outs et his friendship with Balthus, whom he met during his stay at the Villa Médicis between 1971 - 1973, Rouan treads his own innovative and radically original path. His current work integrates new techniques such as photography and film. Today, François Rouan is unanimously recognized as a major artist of contemporary art. In particular, his works were exhibited at the Musée National d'Art Moderne in Paris, at the Matisse Museum in 2009 and more recently the Fabre Museum dedicated an important retrospective to his work in 2017....
