Frederick Hutchison, born in Montreal in 1871, studied under William Brymmer (1855-1925) at the Art Association of Montreal, then in Paris under Benjamin Constant and Jean-Paul Laurens. Frederick Hutchison, born in Montreal in 1871, studied under William Brymmer (1855-1925) at the Art Association of Montreal, then in Paris under Benjamin Constant and Jean-Paul Laurens. After further studies at the Art Students League under William Merritt Chase in 1910, Hutchison painted landscapes in a more impressionistic technique. Hutchison went to Europe in 1928 and met his friend Clarence Gagnon who was living in Paris at the time - and they then subsequently toured Europe together for the year (with their partners).
