Born at Gorleston-on-Sea, Norfolk, the artist had a keen interest in nature and his first job was with the Forestry Commission. In 1960 he was encouraged to start painting and has been a professional artist ever since. He paints a wide range of subject matter including landscapes, seascapes and still life with a skill and mastery which is completely his own. He has had one man shows in New Orleans with the Dixon & Dixon Gallery as well as at Haddiscoe Hall in Norfolk in 2010 and 2011, jointly exhibiting at The Bruton Street Gallery in Mayfair in London
