Born on July 3, 1922 in Dorchester MA, George attended Boston Latin School before enlisting in the Army at the start of WWII. Versed in several languages, George was assigned to the Army's Signal Intelligence Service, trained as a cryptanalyst in England, and was sent to North Africa and the Mediterranean theater to work on deciphering German Luftwaffe codes in preparation for the Allied invasion of Italy. After the war Mr. Augusta returned to Boston and studied for three years under Ernest Lee Major (1864-1950), an original member of the... Read full biography
