Kallstenius was one of the best representatives of the 'Atmospheric' movement that blossomed in the 1890's in Sweden. In this respect, he also represented the Scandinavian Art Movement, the 'Nordic Light' which earned an international reputation. In addition, he was commissioned to execute murals of which the best known and still existing to this day was the famous 'Suite' he did at he Royal Theatre of Stockholm.
