He was the son of Major Carl-Gustaf Wigert and Elsa von Reis and from 1962 married to the ballet teacher Ann-Margret Louise Holmgren. Wigert became motherless shortly after birth and a nurse nursed him for three years while his father, who was a pilot, worked. He was the son of Major Carl-Gustaf Wigert and Elsa von Reis and from 1962 married to the ballet teacher Ann-Margret Louise Holmgren.
