Close had a friendship with Wilhelm Kohlhoff, Bruno Krauskopf and Willy Jaeckel. After the First World War, in the mid-1920s, he found a magical, idyllic, decorative style of cultivated (deserted) sensuality, which was somewhere between Expressionism and New Objectivity. Harry Deierling exhibited Oil Paintings from 6 Decades in the Galerie Otto Nagel, Berlin-Wedding, 1991. Almost the entire early work was destroyed in a bomb attack on Berlin in 1943....
