From 1963 to 1966 Jan Ryz was enrolled and then graduated from the University of Mechanical Engineering and Textiles in Liberec, Czech Republic. From 1969 to 1973 he studied at the Faculty of Education of the University of Hradec Králové, majoring in art education with Professor Borivoj Borovský. After graduating, he moved to Prague, where he worked in the Central Bohemian Gallery in the 1980s, where he cared for and promoted graphic collections. After graduating, he moved to Prague, where he worked in the Central Bohemian Gallery in the 1980s, where he cared for and promoted graphic collections. He was a high school professor of art at the grammar school, the Secondary Vocational School of Pedagogy and the Higher Vocational School in Prague 6 - Dejvice.
