Born in Toulouse, Jean-Louis Toutain (1948-2008) was already fascinated by painting, drawing and modeling as a boy. At 14 he enrolled at the art academy. Over time, he continuously developed his technical skills and finally found his own individual design at the age of 40. In 1991 Toutain received the Médaille Ouvriers de France for his sculptural work. Over time, he continuously developed his technical skills and finally found his own individual design at the age of 40. In 1991 Toutain received the Médaille Ouvriers de France for his sculptural work. His works are represented in numerous public and private collections, but also at public places, such as his first large sculpture Maternitée, which was purchased in 1995 by the city of Toulouse and is now positioned on the Square Charles de Gaulle in Toulouse.
