Enseling studied at the Kunstgewerbeschule in Düsseldorf from 1905-1910 and from 1910-1912 with Aristide Maillol at the Académie Colarossi in Paris. From 1922 he taught at what would later become the Folkwang School in Essen. From 1938 to 1952 Enseling was a professor at the Düsseldorf Academy.
