Robert Kummer became a student of the Dresden Academy in 1825 at a young age of fifteen and received his artistic training from Carl August Richter and Johan Christian Clausen Dahl. With a royal scholarship, Kummer traveled to Italy for the first time in 1832/33. When he arrived in Naples, he was immediately drawn to Capri, where he really absorbed the natural beauties of the island. Karl Robert Kummer passed away in 1889 in Germany....
