His works have been included in numerous exhibitions of Canadian art, they are discussed in most Canadian art history books and they are in the permanent collections of over twenty major Canadian museums. His awards include the Order of Canada and the Order of Quebec. He was born in Narajow, Galicia (now Poland). He moved to Montreal, Quebec, Canada with his family in 1911, which is where he lived the rest of his life and died. (1).
