After completing his studies in Syria, he opened a workshop in Damascus, sculpting in stone and wood while regularly exhibiting at home and abroad. In 1981 he traveled to Carrara, Italy where he took courses at the Academy of Fine Arts. Years later he would continue to return to Carrara, where he works with fellow sculptor Boutros Romhein in providing professional training for new and established sculptors.
