Mahmoud Bakhshi was born in Tehran, where he graduated from the university’s Faculty of fine arts with his Bachelor in sculpture in 2001 and where he still lives. Themes of his work are the exploration of cultural tradition and modern day life, conscious artistic independence and state authority. In 2010 Mahmoud Bakhshir won the Magic of Persia Contemporary Art Prize.
