Manza in Cologne and later studied at the Grand Ducal Saxon School of Art in Weimar. Molitor's works ranged from architectural sculptures to landscape paintings, portraits, etchings, posters, and bookplates. He created notable pieces such as the architectural sculptures for the Leipzig public baths, the groups of figures Mephisto and Faust, and the sculpture of the belt binder in Jena.
