He was a portrait painter in the capital until drafted in the army for World War II. He was an illustrator in the trenches during the war. He was a portrait painter in the capital until drafted in the army for World War II. He was an illustrator in the trenches during the war. After the war, Bulgaria became a Soviet annex and artistic freedom was prohibited. Blazev was conscripted to endless paintings of Marx, Engels and Stalin until escaping to Yugoslavia in 1948. His artistic career was better there but took a setback during the Tito/Krushchev years which forced another escape to Italy. He lived with his daughter in... Read full biography
