Nina Hamnett (1890-1956), was known as the Queen of Bohemia. She led an extraordinary life; her autobiography Laughing Torso is well worth reading. While at art school in London, Nina modeled for Henri Gaudier-Brzeska, many of the works can be seen at the Tate including Torso and the Dancer (a later casting is at Kettle's Yard). She moved to Paris in 1914 and became close friends with Modigliani, Picasso and Cocteau. On her return to London she lived in Fitzrovia, working for the Omega... Read full biography
