Nita Begg enrolled at the Glasgow School of Art, in 1937 at the age of 16. She studied throughout the war as the School was forced to stay open by the Scottish Education Department. Graduating in 1943 she was awarded a place at Hospitalfield House which she took up in 1947 having completed her war service as a nurse.
