Born in 1903 at Concord, NH of French-Canadian stock, Omer Thomas Lassonde was schooled at Manchester and Philadelphia, while painting at Monhegan and Gloucester with some of the great colorists of the 1920s. Maud Briggs Knowlton, his painting instructor, was so impressed by the 20-year-old that she took him in 1925 to Monhegan Island, Maine, to paint, exhibit, and meet other professional painters.
