Oscar Matthiesen was born in 1861 as the son of the Danish House Vogts and Brand Director Johann Peter Matthiessen at Gottorp Castle in Schleswig. In November 1910, he celebrated a solo exhibition at the previously opened Kunsthalle zu Kiel triumphs where his monumental work Ride Swedish officers in the Band (now Museum Ystad ). After completing his studies in Copenhagen, the artist took several trips to Paris, Rome, Berlin and Munich. In November 1910, he celebrated a solo exhibition at the previously opened Kunsthalle zu Kiel triumphs where his monumental work Ride Swedish officers in the Band (now Museum Ystad ). Vorliegendes painting Europa on the bull was in the magazine 32, Jg. 1908 in the journal Youth and was reproduced as a lithograph.
