Finnish marine and landscape painter, Oskar Kleineh began studying in Helsinki. From 1866/67 he continued his studies at the Düsseldorf Academy, like so many other Scandinavian students. Thereafter he went to St. Petersburg where he was awarded a silver medal of the academy in 1872. He lived in Paris from 1881-85 before returning to Helsinki.
