Paul Kauzmann (1874-1951) started to work as a math teacher. In 1907, he decided to quit in favor of a second career as a painter. He studied at the Art Academy in Stuttgart and received private lessons from artists such as Hermann Groeber (1865-1935) in Munich. He later became a student of Bernhard Buttersack (1858-1935), who was a representative of the Munich School.
