Maier went on to graduate from Pratt Institute, Brooklyn, New York, with degrees in Industrial Design and Fine Art. He was then hired by General Motors at age 20. Maier went on to graduate from Pratt Institute, Brooklyn, New York, with degrees in Industrial Design and Fine Art. He was then hired by General Motors at age 20.
