In 1923 Pfeifer exhibited his work together with Wassily Kandinsky, Otto Dix, Paul Klee and Max Pechstein in the Mathildenhöhe in Darmstadt. Throughout his life, the examination of color as an artistic means of expression remains decisive for the artist's unmistakable style. Pfeifer's work is shown in numerous solo and group exhibitions and in 1966 at the Venice Biennale.
