From childhood, at age twelve, he drew and painted each week with his maternal grandmother, as well as during his holidays in Beg-Meil, Brittany. From childhood, at age twelve, he drew and painted each week with his maternal grandmother, as well as during his holidays in Beg-Meil, Brittany. He followed André Lhote's lessons for a while, then attended a free workshop in Montparnasse and, for three years, attended the Montmartre Academy, boulevard de Clichy.
