Reinhold Braun was at the art school in Stuttgart from 1837. He took every opportunity to study retreats and military exercises, which allowed him to increasingly establish himself as a soldier and animal painter. In 1839, Braun accepted an invitation of the Prince of Prussia and accompanied the strategic operations in the Baden uprising as a draftsman.
