For the greater part he dedicated himself autodidactically to art. The artist began in the mid-1970's with concept art and eventually worked up to installations as a member of the group Perimetro. He later turned to a figurative style partially influenced by Old Master paintings. Di Stasio became a protagonist of the romantic and fantastic movement, which emerged in Italy in the 1980's refusing abstraction and concept art.
