He tutored at the College for twelve years. The Sherwen family made New Zealand their home in 1974. Throughout the 1980's Ted travelled to the USA to study with leading watercolourist Rex Brandt. His work has evolved and developed into a unique and easily recognisable style that has put him at the forefront of New Zealand watercolourists. Sherwen has received Awards for his work in Scotland and New Zealand and is a member of the Academy of Fine Art and the Wellington Society of Watercolour Artists.
