Teodoro Andreu was the son of José Andreu García and his second wife, Ascension Sentamans Salazar. He had three brothers and a sister. In 1884 he began studying drawing and painting, first at the school of Fostering Arts and then at the School of Painting, Sculpture and Engraving, the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of San Fernando.
